Welcome to Kate & George ...by the sea.

Great to see you. On here we try to offer a small selection from our huge range of women's clothing. Sadly, we're never going to be able to put everything we have on this website. But if you're heading to the North Kent coast, we hope you'll be able to visit us in the heart of Margate Old Town. Have a browse through the whole of our stunning collection of women's clothing, accessories and design-led gifts. We're sure you'll find something you absolutely need...

COVID-19

OUR PREMISES IN MARGATE IS NOW CLOSED FOR NORMAL BUSINESS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Statement from our facebook page:

As from today, Monday 23rd. March, we have taken the decision to close Kate & George for the forseeable future.

In common with many small independent businesses, particularly those with bricks and mortar premises, we have invested a considerable amount of our savings in the business. And, like at least one other independent in Margate has stated, there have been too many times when we have not been able to pay ourselves. Running Kate & George is what we did full-time. And the first three months of the year... now... have always been the most challenging time for us. Rent, loan repayments and all the other costs associated with running a business don't go away, they're fixed costs.
We are now going to spend time getting as much as possible of our stock modelled, photographed and uploaded to our website, although this is a hugely time consuming process for us.

Anyway, last Saturday, a range of lovely bags arrived... you've probably not seen them... they're part of our Spring/Summer range long since bought and paid for.

(I've put some pictures of them on Facebook.)
We're confident that when this is over we *will* be in a position to reopen the shop. When that may be, none of us can know. Until then, be safe and stay well. Obey the self-distancing rules, isolate, do whatever you can to protect yourself and others... that's what is all about.

WE ARE PREPARED TO OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

PLEASE EMAIL YOUR REQUEST TO:

sales@margate.clothing

WE WILL CONSIDER ALL REQUESTS ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS.

(OPENING HOURS ARE ALWAYS SEASONAL SO DO VARY)

RIGHT: high up on the wall of 'The Bull's Head,' the pub opposite our shop,  you can see this plaque.

In 1952, stage and radio comedian Eric Morcambe married the pub landlord's daughter, Joan Bartlett. Born in Morecambe, Lancashire in 1926, his actual name was John Eric Bartholomew. He died in 1984 following a heart attack as he left the stage of The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury.

Off Eastern Esplanade, Cliftonville, a short way from our shop, you'll find the delightful Walpole Bay Tidal Pool.                                                                      Two views - a Spring evening and Summer's day.

         BELOW:

Meet Rosie, our Director of Customer Relations. She's quite often

in the shop and happy for you to make a fuss of her.
